I wake up every morning with a real feeling of anxiety and dread. I retired a few years ago, I'm healthy and active, lovely husband, family and friends, could do with a bit more income but then couldn't we all!! I'm not on any medication so is this just an age thing? It does wear off as the day goes on but it is horrible to wake up feeling as if the world is coming to an end!!! Any ideas?

unfortunately, this anxiety feeling, and thoughts of doom and gloom, are fairly common amongs pre and post menopausal ladies and although you don't mention your age, by what you say you maybe fall into that age bracket/time of life. if it's really having an impact on your life it may be worth a trip to your gp to see what can be done, although if it wears off during the day it may just be a case of bearing with it and getting through as best you can until it hopefully wears off. do you have friends of a similar age you could talk to, or your lovely husband? sometime that's all it needs, sharing your feelings and realising you're not odd or alone...because you're neither of those :o)
best of luck.
Do you drink alcohol and caffinated tea or coffee? If so try reducing the first and cutting out the second.

Both good ideas, thank you!
Make a little scrapbook and list all the good things in your life, add poems and happy family photos and as you wake and the feeling starts to wash over you, get the book and flick through it to fill your mind and heart with the joy you have.

Keep well ♥
Hi Grange. I know that feeling oh so well and yes, it is horrible to wake up feeling anxious. I find it's best to get up (even though you may not feel like it!) and potter around or read. I found in my case that it got to be a 'habit' and I went to sleep at night dreading the next morning-would I be anxious? So in some ways, it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I gave up coffee (just decaf now) and told myself that it would pass-and it always did. If you feel like reading about it, there's an excellent book by Dr Claire Weekes, called Self Help for Your Nerves. It explains that these feelings do tend to appear in the morning-it's kind of comforting to know that many, many people feel the same way.
The very best of luck to you-take care, Maz xx
Rescue Remedy can calm you - I was anxious last week and bought it and thought it helped.
Article 8 eh.

Just my opinion, but if you fail to respect the rights of others, then you should automatically lose any right to be "respected" in return.
HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN? I was on another question!
