Anyone know the physiotherapy term for someone who is very supple (nearly too supple) - I think it has the word 'mobile' in it. Thanks.

Hi Pixi - what form does your take (if you feel comfortable saying)? My five year old daughter has seen the physiotherapists today and she is not quite hyperemobile but is 'stretchy' all over. Her biggest problem is that she falls over loads because she walks with her feet too close together - the rest of the 'floppiness' is not causing her any bother.
me me me.. I'm hypermobile too!
I think it takes different forms, sherrard. you can get it in your joints or muscles. I have it in my muscles, which I think is the lesser evil. I am sitting with my legs in a stupid position because I'm not good at sitting properly in a chair. I'm very bendy and always sit badly.

my 3 yr old niece was diagnosed with it last week, and they ordered a mini-yoga ball thingie for her to sit on.

Thanks both - I am very stretchy (sit on the floor with my legs bent in a 'W' shape) and was horribly pigeon-toed as a kid. They don't know what they are going to do for my daughter as they don't know what bits are not working properly (I just don't want her to fall over quite as much).

i have it in my spine and neck...
I have Hypermobility as does my son too although he has hypotonia too ((low mucles tone))..

For me it effects my knees and wrists the worst.. although one of my shoulders at the moment wont stay in socket grrr, that and my hips popping in and out of socket too. God it makes you feel sick at the thought LOL. All the ligaments are over stretched on mine way too far and the joint bends a hell of a lot more then it should :D

My son doesn't have much co-ordination with his and is forever falling over and his legs hurting him when he walks. He sees a Occupational Therapist with it but that's also including his assessments he has due to Sensory Problems with his Autism.

They say if you by the time you reach 21 you will know if you have grown out of it or not. It's more common for girls apparently to be hypermobile too.
Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Google it for interesting reading.
yes sqad ive worried ive got that too...as i my skin on my neck seems especially stretchy... could be normal though, not sure...
but i have also mentioned before on the elasticity of it, and lack of wrinkles at 39...
Me too along with the fibromyalgia and arthritis (so even though I can move more than it should it bloody hurts a lot more now haha - restricted in other ways too). I did dancing and gymnastics etc... when I was younger, had just figured I was more flexible because of that but possibly ended up overdoing things because of it, not realising I maybe wasn't meant to move that much.

Like Sara I am really bad at sitting properly and my popping out of place is my ribs.
Should say the me too was for hypermobility rather than the thing in Sqad's link.
