Don't really know what to do. A friend of a friend swears blind she saw my gran coming out of the local gum clinic. I thought she was joking but she described her to a tea and told me what she was wearing and what her car was like parked outside.

My gran is a single and i don't think she is with anyone. Well, she hasn't said so. I am so shocked if she was in there and disgusted to be honest.

I really don't think it was a lie. So what should i do?
a) tell my gran my friend saw her in there?
b) don't say anything cause it's none of my business?
c) tell my mother?
d) ring the gum clinic pretending to be my gran and ask if my results are back?

My friend's friend has no reason to lie, thanks.

Zeb - quite possibly. If I saw my relative coming out of any sort of medical facility, it's not for me to ask why they were there - they'll tell me if they want to.

"She might even work part time as a cleaner.

And as for posting this at 22.29, well, really, that says it all"

Albaqwerty - I am quite sure at 72 years old that she is happily retired and as if she wouldn't tell us she had a job.

I have come on this website for advice. I notice that many of us younger posters get talked to like dirt. Why does it matter what time I posted this????? I don't understand what you are getting at? Please explain yourself.

I can totally understand people telling me to butt out but like i said, she's my gran and I want to know all is ok. That's all folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would be more concerned if I saw my relative coming out of a church!!!!

Sounds like granny is living life to the full :-)) Go Supergran!!!!
NOT being funny or having a go at anyone, but when someone says (which people have, frequently) that 'people won't understand AV' do they mean themselves? If so, why not just say that. Or do they understand it, but think that only someone of their intellect is capable of understanding?
I had to attend because I had persistent cystitis and I am 84 (no sexual partner - finally got beyond it when my husband died) I didn't even know they catered for other things and quite frankly I don't care. All I can say is that they were excellent and I have now been free of cystitis (cross fingers and knock on wood) for over a year, due to their care and advice.
Zeb, if you had a problem with your downstairs - would you tell your grandpa/dad/son - would you even tell your friends?
Sorry. Tired!! Wrong thread.
Arti - I think you might be in the wrong thread....;-)
Arti - wrong thread? You need your daily allowance of Vim ;)
No, Boxy, I'm not. Isn't this the Advanced Venereal thread? ;)

Thanks for the earlier explanation. Learn something every day.
Lol, PO Karen ;)

LOL, you got there first!

dolly - I promise you, it's nothing to do with age, if you had been your gran and she'd seen you coming out of the clinic, I would still have said the same thing. You did ask, we've given your our advice (and some on here are similar age to your gran or older, we'd know how we'd feel if we were being gossiped about, about something like this. I know you are concerned for your gran, but I am sure that if she were ill, she would tell you.

starbuckone, that's fantastic. So pleased you're better now :)

Look guys, I'm 17. I honestly didn't realise that a gum clinic catered for other ailments besides STDs and contraception. *I learn something new every day*. Thank you
^^ PS please also bear in mind that this is hearsay. You haven't seen her, you heard about this THIRD hand. It sounds as if your friend's friend is good at spreading gossip - which isn't very nice.
Well you are probably in a minority Zeb, I think most folk like their privacy and choose not to share these kind of things with family. Personally I would talk to my partner and my best friend and that would be it.
I'd feel dreadfully uncomfortable if my daughter or granddaughter came to me,saying "so-and-so saw you coming out of..blah,blah" I'd feel as if my private business was being talked about. And-if the reverse was true-I would not confront said daughter/grand daughter about what's private to them. The information needs to be offered-if it isn't,then it's no-ones business.
