cat pee smell

i have had abdo pain and bloating for 2 weeks now.my doc is sending me for a sigmoidoscope in 2 weeks,as she thinks it may be bowel related.tonight as i went for a wee i noticed it smelled strongly of cat pee! what could this be,any ideas folks ? thanks.

What had you been eating/drinking? Anything like asparagus? Was the colour or anything else about it different?
True, what you eat and drink can really affect the smell of wee, but also so can infection. (or the cat's been spraying behind your loo, which does happen in our house....)
Seriously - hope you feel better soon, well done you for getting it investigated quickly.
Any other symptoms?

When a doctor mentions that something might be 'bowel related', it's likely that the patient will wonder whether that might be a reference to bowel cancer. THANKS FOR THE LINKS BUENO LOL TO THE 1ST ONE,I DID HAVE BRUSSEL SPROUTS TONIGHT FOR TEA,MAYBE THAT COULD BE AN ANSWER.BUT STILL GOT THE BLOATING,PERHAPS NOT DRINKING ENOUGH WATER,I NEVER TEND TO DRINK ENOUGH.

Yes "pee" normally smells and is usually diet related.
Not diagnostic of any problems.
