Being given gas at the Dentist for a filling - to this day, I can't stand the smell of rubber......Clarkes school shoes that a compass in the heel............having to light the coal fire when I got in from school, with the gas poker, it always blew my eyebrows off.
Iodine on cuts and butter rubbed onto burns (whose stupid idea was that?)
Have to disagree about the malt and cod liver oil. Absolutely loved it. I wouldn't let the spoon out of my mouth till I'd had every last drop.
Being the swotty fat kid with glasses or at least the teasing that went with it

My uncle Dick... (who used to try to get my little sister and I on our own 'to listen to records' and sit us on his very lumpy lap...if you get the picture

Banana medicine.
Being used as an unwilling wrestling opponent by my brother.
Being made to sit alone at the dinner table until I had finished the food that I didn't want to eat.
school! I absolutely hated and detested school. It kept me away from things I would have rather been doing, like helping with the farm animals, helping gran shell peas, or pick mushrooms, or reading. I could already read and write when I started,I didn't play with dolls, so as far as I was concerned, what was the point of school!!?
Gas poker? Now there's posh! Far too expensive for us - had to make do with scrunched up newspaper and sticks.
DEN is posh - we lit the fire with matches or spills. And I always wanted shoes with a compass in the heel.
