Morning everyone! I have been talked into signing up to do a half marathon in March. This will be a huge task for me as I am pretty unfit and apart from one 3 mile jog/quick walk last year can not remember the last time I did any real excersize. Has anyone got any tips for training for a half marathon (have been informed it's a flat run)? I would really love to do this but need all the help I can get!

Start slowly and build up.

Start by jogging for 1 min and do a brisk walk for 1 min...The next week Jog for 2 mins and brisk walk for 1 min...then 3 mins...then 4 mins and so on. It's much easier doing it a week at a time.

thanks Ummmm. Do you think 6 months is long enough? I really am quite unfit but would love to be able to at least jog the whole way with the people I'm doing it with.
Depends how often you train. It takes about 6 months of regular training to get fit...about 6 weeks to lose it.

If I was you I'd go jogging at least 4 times a week and do other exercises in between.
6 months is plenty!!

but apparently you dont want to keep jogging as far as you can go as this will damage you!
You are better to do say 5 mile runs but get your time down as this will keep you competitive whithout hurting your joints!
