I have just recovered from a bout of sinusitus which gaveme no sense of taste or smell for atleast 10 days. antibiotics cured it but i am aware of it returning. is there any prevention measures i can take and what can i avoid. Ive found that drinking bitter and guniness does not help.

jessy....instead of drinking the Bitter and Guiness, try "flushing out" out your sinuses with it.

On a more serious note........there is nothing that you can do to prevent sinus infections, but it sound as though there is not complete resolution of the problem after the attack....something is stopping it healing.

Go to your GP as you may need X-rays of your sinuses and if that shows persisting infection, then you may need surgical intervention.

Thanks Sqad for that. I think that the hops etc in the beer causes my blocked nose, s i suppose the best thing to do is stop drinking it! I can put up with blocked noses n headaches, its the loss of taste n smell that upsets me. Im getting a little paranoid now by going around the house smelling everything to see if i can! ! etc coffee, deodarants etc
