When on the internet, particularly Facebook, pages keep appearing without warning or consent. Dating sites, legal highs, but quite disturbingly pornographic content sites. It also happens when my young son is on and this is the main worry. I\'m asking advice on how to stop them. Thanks in advance.

You need to activate 'pop up blocker'

Let us know which browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Firefox etc) and someone cleverer than me will tell you how to do it.

It's the internet explorer browser thats currently in use. Thanks again
I am on Firefox, but just went on IE to remind myself.

Go to the 'Tools' drop down menu and select Pop Up Blocker

If it is off you will get an option to 'Turn on pop up blocker'
(and vice versa, if already on it will say turn off)

There is also an option for pop up settings where you can decide whether to block all or just some.

More techy people than me can follow now with further advice. It might be advisable to delete all your cookies in case they are drawing in the filth.
Also I would tell your internet security programme to do a full system scan for unwanted naughty things.
Sounds like you might have spyware.

Do a spyware scan with say malwarebytes.
