hi, my 7 year old daughter has VERY flaky skin on her hands and feet, its at its worst when she gets out the bath, its not ichy or sore, isnt red or inflammed its litterally just her skin peeling off, she tends to stay in the bath for ages playing so i put it down to that but this time she wasnt in very long and its the worst ive ever seen it, i will need to take her to the docs, but has anyone got any ideas what this may be? i have looked up eczema but to be honest doesnt sound like it, or look like it.

thanks

She's not using Johnson's Baby products by any chance is she? I never understood why, when my daughter was small, her skin was always like sandpaper when everyone elses children had soft and peachy skin. It turned out to be the Johnson's Baby Bath that we both loved the smell of. After trying to eliminate all manner of things as the cause it eventually became apparent it was Johnson's that was to blame. As soon as we stopped using all Johnson's products, her skin became as soft as all the other kids. I was really surprised that products developed specifically for a baby's skin could have had that effect on her.
Sorry, I know your daughter's skin condition is different to what I describe, but these things can affect different people in different ways. I do wonder why it seems to be specifically her feet and hands though. Your best bet is to take her to see your GP.
Do you not get her to moisturise her body after bathing?
i find bathing oilatum helps dry skin problems but not to sure about your daughters flaky skin unless it is due to dry skin. best seek help from GP
