Hi, I was hoping you may be able to help. Im an unlicenced driver, who swerved to miss a dog and crashed my boyfriends car. After the accident I was in total shock and freaking out bad about how I would go home and tell him. I had a bottle of vodka given to me for a Christmas gift in my car, as I was coming home from her house at the time.I ripped out the bottle to try and calm me and give myself the extra guts to tell my controlling boyfriend. Anyhow I started to walk home and about 40 minutes later the police find me walking home. I told them I had the accident and that I was unlincenced. They conducted a breath test, and took me off to the police station. Problem is now Im being charged with drink driving when I didnt drink before driving.?? I also was treated in a discusting manner by the police. By the time they had me at the police station I was breath less and feeling very sick. They thought I was avoiding my breath test??Once sent home I got a cab home. And I was totally breathless,..and emense pain.I rang my mum,who immediately came over, She raced me staight up to the hospital where I was immediately admitted. I had 2 broken ribs a punchured lung and nerve damage to my hips. I stayed in hospital for 7 days on morphene and oxegen, physo too help reopen my lung too.I personally feel that the police should have taken me straight to hospital instead of worrying about my god dam breath test. I later found that the hospital do conduct them and by the time I got thier I was low range not mid range. At the accident scence they found no scretch marks on road to say I was also speeding so I find that a negative claim for them to right in my statement. Any advice on my situation, would be great!

so you were driving without permission, a license or insurance? what are the rest of the charges - leaving the scene of an accident as well?
I do hope this is a wind up as you seem to have no comprehension whatsoever about the consequences of driving a car without a licence or insurance.
Hopefully your boyfriend will be prosecuted as well for allowing his car to be driven by an uninsured driver.

For you to have those injuries you must have been travelling at speed - what did you hit? Were you wearing a seat belt?

The offences of driving without a licence and driving without insurance are absolute - there are no defences.
You are also a walking miracle - to have walked for 40 minutes with those injuries is quite amazing.
oh cr@p have i fallen for a wind up?

Hi Thank you for replying so quick, I swerved to miss a dog, closed my eyes on natural reaction and crashed into a tree?? Yes I was wearing a seatbelt. I still dont comprehend that the police did not call an abulance and thought I was lying..?

Hello, I did not just leave the sence I was walking home to notify my partner.I had no phone!!
Question Author
No body was inquired except me.Or it would be a totally different story!
well at least you missed the dog
You were able to walk for 40 minutes, and talk, carry a bottle of vodka and drink - you were not an ambulance case.

You did leave the scene - you were 40 minutes away.

The police are not doctors. They saw a woman who was able to walk and talk, swigging from a bottle of vodka. There was no reason to suspect your were injured.

I think you are over reacting a little.... I was not just swigging on Vodka when police arrived ,...Please also keep in mind what shock does to you...adreniline made me walk and fear!
Somebody who has been able to walk for 40 minutes and is talking does not need an ambulance.

Stop trying to blame the police. It was your choice to drive without a licence and without insurance. Your responsibility and your fault.

Yes I do agree with your point,...to some degree, but my case is they charged me for drink driving!!!! I accept the fact that I will be punished for driving unlicenced,.....and I have a $15,000 dollar debt. Try and understand that Im not here to blame police,..re -read my question......its about the fact that I was charged for an effence i did not commit.

Hi Rollo, no Im from Australia
Where are you Samantha, you spell (!) in British English but are talking about being fined in dollars?
I see. Sorry. I don't know anything about how the law works in Australia.
oh, spotted!

the only bit you missed was to say your controlling boyfriend beat you up when you (finally) got home.
I was involved in an accident a few years ago and the other driver left the scene - when the police found him, at his home, he was drunk, paralytic in fact, and he explained that he had drank a bottle of whisky to calm his nerves.
The court believed him, nobody else did.
It's deffo a wind up, if she had money for a cab home from the hospital she had money to get a cab home from the scene of the accident.
All i can say is if you didn't have permission from your BF to drive the car he should have you done for taking without consent, or even car theft, it would protect his no claims then.

what a waste of vodka
