If you are put on HRT gel (oestrogen only) after a full hysterectomy with removal of ovaries, should your hormone levels or anything be monitored at regular intervals or do you just stay on the HRT forever?

what help you must be joking no advice at all,us oldies at 51 they aint interested!!!
Couldn't sleep so came on here.
Saw your question and hoped I might be able to help a little.
I had full hysterectomy aged 33, been on HRT (pills) since. (now 47). I am told I will be 'weaned off' aged 50-51....

I am monitored at GP's request before repeat perscription is given. Averages twice a year.

I doubt you will be on it 'forever'.

Hope this helps.
I've just had to have a partial hysterectomy, and I'm only 29. There was a lady in hospital who'd come off HRT at the age of 61 - so goodness knows, but she said she had more trouble than a little when she was first coming off it. I've been offered it, but refused, as it can increase the chance of breat cancer. I'd rather put up with any hot sweats!!
I had to have a full one in my 40s and have been on hrt since . I have a check up before each repeat every 3 months. Have a word with your gp or your nurse and ask for all the info rainbow hun :-)
I am the same as dawny. My GP tried for a few years to put me on HRT but I resisted. I felt great and the only reason to go on it was to prevent osteoporosis.

I went on the patches for a few years but just felt I didn't need it and stopped. I'm 53 and presume I have been thru the change. Didn't feel a thing!

If I have bone problems there are very effective treatments for helping bone mass, as my mother is on them. Also, the safe/unsafe news items about HRT decided me against it at the time.

But that's me, it was a while ago, and rainbow you should ask your GP to fully explain your future treatment and checks.
Best laugh i had was about 14 years ago.
My ex motherinlaw was on hrt patches.
anyway her husbands got a farm he gets up 4 in the morning to go check on the sheep gets dressed in the dark
hes out all day and comes back late at night around 10 oclock as it was lambing season.
anyways hes complaining of headaches and feeling dizzy and sweaty
he goe soff to bed
as hes getting undresssed he sees what looks like a plaster stuck on the sole of his foot.

turns out
its one of his wifes hrt patche s

we did laugh
Put a sock in it!! Mwhahaha!!!!!!!
lol

daft arse eh ?
Um....well you can put it there if you like.........
With a name like yours am sure the sweats wont bother u....I agree do it naturally. OAPs here recommend the natural path as HRT just postpones the inevitable sweats to a later time when ur less strong.

Refusing HRT will also thwart the collection of oestrogen from mares; that I understand is the source of the medication.....?
