childs eyes
sorry to come on again, i just worry too much i think. my son who is 3 in may keeps waking up screaming saying my eyes and holds his hands over them. when i ask him whats wronghe says sharp. i have had a look cant see anything in them. he has been doing it for a few nights now and just wondered if anyone has experienced this i took him to the doctors today but he couldnt find anything wrong. he is having his eyes tested on fri

Could he have been having a nightmare? Has any circumstance in his world changed recently?
Wouldn't explain why he's saying sharp though.
Do you have any pets? Could he have an allergy? Do you have the heating on for long periods and his eyes may be dry? (Though if I remember rightly, weren't you having boiler troubles?!)
If in any doubt though, simply insist that your GP refer him, after all Mum knows best!

hi wwe have a parrot but have had him since before my son was born and he has a rabbit but he has that for over a year. the heatin only comes on for an hour before they get up and an hour before they go bhed. the gp said to see a optician but they cant do nothing till fri as they are all booked up
he does it if he wakes up in the car on settee or in his bed so really have no idea, but he gets really worked up over it

Could it have first happened as a reaction to something physical, ie. touching something then touching his eyes, but now he remembers it and gets worked up with the memory and association?
And as for opticians, I have lost some faith in them, esp. after reading about mystery shopper report on them in Reader's Digest recently. I really would insist that GP refer's him to local hospital for an opinion, if he continues to be bothered with it. Perhaps find out if there is a clinic such as 10-12(am) as with a hospital near me. GP refers you there, normally with a referral letter to bring, if you present your little one at the surgery of a morning with what the GP subsequently feels is an urgent problem, ie. something that has materialised overnight or needs to be seen urgently.
In any case, I wouldn't take no for an answer from any medical professional, if you feel there's something more to it, after all you know him best and we only get one pair of eyes.
In my experience, (when eldest did a Houdini out of 5-point car seat straps to nab pencil out of pencil case in change bag, purposely on far side of the car and poked her eye with it), I hauled ourselves up to A&E, me 8 months pregnant and in the rain, on a traditionally busy Friday night, just to be on the safe side and we were in the hospital for no longer than 30-45 mins? Just about to sit after booking in when we were called in and seen straight away, so they do take eyes very seriously indeed.
Anyway, hope he's sleeping soundly at the moment, like my two little creatures!

hi everyone, my mom suggested his eyelashes as he does have really long ones. but i cant see anything.
as for remembering something, the only thing i can think of is when he got soap in his eyes in bath last week. i have wondered weather he is just doing it cause he remembers gettin attention when he got soap in them, but as you say it is not worth taking the risk with his eyes.
i am going to tey and get him in at the docs this morning see what he thinks.
he had lots od problems with his eyes when he was a baby, he used to get infection after infection in his right eye, and that is the one he complains about now, so not sure if it is connected.
ice- the little one is fine now thankyou, back to his normal self. he is a tough little one that has had a few bumps and bruises due to him thinking he can do what teenager lads can do.
