Hey all!

I have really really dry skin, at the mo I seem to be falling apart on my face with patches of dry skin and its horrible!
I have 1 moisturiser that works wel, but at 40 a pot and the way I have to use it its not lasting long and rather expensive.
Yet my hair is so so greasy! I wash it one morning, by the next I have to tie it up as I cant wear it down because it looks so bad and like I've not washed it for days :(
I dont know what to do! I would of thought if I had greasy hair, Id have greasy skin?! Obviously doesnt work like that!

Btw, Im 20, dont know if that makes a difference though!

Any help or advise would be great ta!

The dry patches could be an allergic reaction rather than simple dryness (ezcema, psoriasis, dermatitis etc), which would explain the differences.

A great shampoo for cleansing greasy hair without upsetting your hair is Big from Lush. The fact that your hair and skin are in different shape is unusual and might be worth a trip to your GP for a dermatology referal. Good luck!

Hi SRH, thanks for your reply!

The dry skin is mainly on my t zone or whatever it is, either side of my nose, just above my nose and my hair line?
Also get alot along my hair line at the front of my face.
Ive had one bit appear on my check, just on my check bone.
I just look so terrible becuase I scratch them and then they go red n funny. I have a few on my face at the minute, and have been putting sudocrem on them over night to try n make them heal faster!
I put foundation on to try to make me look decent, but then I just look like I have glued my skin on!
Def sounds like more than just dry skin. I get eczema around my nose (very attractive!) yet my skin and hair are normal/oily. I find normal moisturisers just aggravate it. I use a cortisone cream but you have to be careful with these on your face. Sudacrem is great but if it doesn't clear it up try your doctor (oh, and antihistamine tablets - for hayfever - can sometimes help too).
I have some mild eczema patches on my body and very dry skin on my face. The only thing I've found to work is Llancome's Aqua Fusion moisturiser. It's 27 for a tub but lasts ages! - around 6 - 8 months.
I also use no.7's tinted moisturiser rather than foundation. As you mentioned, foundation doesn't work well with dry skin at all.
Hiya wiggal - you'll probabaly find by trial and error that you'll get there in the end.. have you tried swapping your shampoo/conditioner? washing it every day instead of every other? Or using a dry shampoo or something in between washes??

For the dry skin t zone - I suffered with dry skin on my arm once and a nurse said to me that something with oil is the best thing to use so I used oilatum (available in boots) and it cleared it up :)
I just wondered have you been drinking alot of alcohol. As over christmas and new year I drank loads and my hair has gone all greasy and my face spotty and dry. I watched a programme on television the other night and it said that drinking to excess can cause the greasy hair and dry skin.
