You know it's bad when the BBC headlines are urging people who have it to stay at home so as not to spread it. I have the biggest phobia of this bug and on my first day back at work yesturday customers were coming in left, right and centre saying how they'd had it and this was their first day of going out. What's worse is that my colleagues were cold so they wouldn't open the door to let some fresh air in, instead they turned up the heating!!! Anyway, when do people stop being contagious because I was in farely close contact with one particular customer who'd had it (meaning I had to touch some books she touched, even though I washed my hands soon after) and have been worrying since yesturday?, Pathetic I know, but I can't help it.

well I have had it despite doing my utmost to prevent it, normally it takes about 24 hours before you start feeling sick or having diarrhoea.

Its notoriously difficult to prevent, I washed my hands constantly, if the person is over it they may not infect you, but it is only a maybe!

its not as bad as you think and once you have had it you are immune to catching it again (the strain that is going around now) carry on as you are, keep your distance and be aware of washing your hands before you eat, after the toilet and try not to put your fingers near your mouth (biting nails ect)

Thanks cazz. I'm seriously thinking of skyving work on Saturday just so I limit the possibilities.
mountainboo I have been super paranoid about getting this bug too (I am guessing that you being preggers is making you more paranoid than usual if you're anything like me!). I have been obsessively washing my hands and drinking lots of water as well as upping my vit C intake and on top of my usual 5 a day I have been trying to include even more fruit and veg.

I work in an office of 13 and at the moment 6 people have it, I have been getting really angry that they will come in to work and spread their germs whilst playing the martyr. Also, my fella is currently curled up on the sofa at home undera duvet with a hot drink because he said he feels so crap that climbing the stairs exhausted him (coming from an outside worker who has spent the past few days fitting our bathroom so is a strong fit man). I have told him that if he starts vomitting or diahorrea (sp??) then I am putting him into quarantine.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you hon, but just try to keep your fluids up, have lots of vit C and be extra conscious about hand / mouth contact and washing your hands xx
lol nat, my sister got the bug 3 days before having her pregnancy induced! (she was overdue) she said to me "I really need this now?!"

she was okay but a bit weak because it takes a few days to recover from the bug and she had to give birth at that time
Your poor sis Cazzz, she must have been exhausted. I hope they were both ok :-)

I am contemplating buying one of those masks that surgeons wear and going round randomly squirting people with antibacterial spray.... I think I'm being reasonable .... LMAO
MB carry some of that antiseptic gel that doesnt require water. That way you can quickly clean your hands without having to go to bathroom each time.
Perfect for keeping in changing bag when baby arrives too.

I hope you avoid the bug, weve had non-stop colds here since mid December and Im getting annoyed with it all

Thanks nat and red. Can't imagine anything worse than having it 3 days before your induced. Thanks for your tips. It makes me angry to, when people come in and spread all their germs. Well, I'm definately skyving tomorrow because the people I'm in with are always bloody cold and never allow the door open for fresh air. I'm going to move to a colder climate with fewer people around, that way all the bugs won't be able to spread.
Luckily I have spent the majority of today working on my own so have the heating on v.low and the windows open getting lots of fresh air in. When other people have been here the majority has been happy to have the windows open, I don't blame you for skiving tomorrow - if I was in your position I think I would too :-)

Red, hope your lot start getting better soon X
If you are going to get it you are going to get it.

My wife had it just before crimbo. Suffered for one day, but was back at work the following day.

It never touched the rest of us in the house.
Don't like to appear cynical but there are quite a lot of people that would see that report on the TV and throw a sickie for a couple of days, knowing full well that they probably wouldn't be challenged and as it's for an average of 48 hours wouldn't need a certificate. Whereas where I work ( in a hospital) if we go sick with diarroeah we have to bring in a sample for testing.
Oh that is gross!
