Hi my husband is goingin to hospital to have a distal radius osteotomy , he's been told they may take a bone graft or use artificial bone , does anyone one know which option has the highest rate of success, or if it makes a difference ? also would you know how long the op is likely to take ? Thanks

Thanks for the links , funnily enough I had visited the 2nd site myself ( more luck than judgment ) but the Ist one was all greek to me !
Hi Artymum1 the decision to go with one technique/procedure or another is made an individual basis, no two patients are the same. It simply isn't a case of option 1) is better than 2) so 1) is done every time.
If it was medicine would be easy.
In terms of length of surgery I'm afraid I can't comment but again you can't really know for definite until the surgery is performed.
