How many times should I go to the gym??

I need to loss just over 5 stone. I 've put all this weight on in just over 4 years. I've always eaten pretty good, veggies, salads and chicken-don't eat sweet things. I had my 4th child at 38, had a foot operation last August, so been off that for ages-still can't walk very well as the op needs to be done again. Also got Scoliosis and bad lower back pains. Having physio still- Joined a gym as I can't stand being like this. Not sure if I'm gonna be able to do much at the gym tho?? But how many times should I go to loss the weight faster...... They have got a steam room and sauna- so might just use that.

You should initially go 3 times a week and do at least 20 mins aerobic non impact activity. That's going to be difficult with your foot, the bike is probably ok, stepper may be ok possibly the rower. Build up to 30 mins 5 times a week. Also look at some toning and stretching work. Steam room and sauna have no effect on fat loss. They make you sweat water that will just be replaced next drink.
Lower back pain? Go to a chiropractor. The physio is not capable of doing manipulation (or qualified). You could find that one trip to the chiro will be more beneficial than 10 to the physio. Is the physio giving you strengthening excercises? If so what about sorting the cause???
You can build up to going to the gym as many times a week as you can afford the time for, just don't overtrain and take it easy at first.

diamondz try brisk walking with possibly sum light ankle weights 2 help tone ue legs.i lost 4 stone without venturing into a gym.if u have a dog or can borrow a dog they pull u along and motivate u not 2 give up also walking shouldnt put 2 much strain on ur back.I used 2 go 4 a brisk walkr 4-5 times a week and i lost it also drink as much water as poss.if your foot is a problem lots of gyms have arm bikes that burn calories but dont put 2 much strain on ur back or foot hope this helps keep us posted
