I had just recovered from a cold/throat virus & finished my anti-biotics, then had a Flu jab a week ago. I ache all over now & the pains in my body woke me up off & on last night. Anyone else experienced the same symptoms after a Flu jab?

On & off even - oh me grammar!
a mate of mine did recently. it can happen as, as with most (if not all) anti-viral injections, they actually do give you a dose of the flu (should have been wearing yer wellies...) and sometimes your body will react to this. also just read today that this year there are warnings about a particularly virulent strain of flu which is resistent to the usual jags that dr's give so beware everyone else - even if vaccinated you may still get a dose.

Thanx bobbobley. I glanced quickly at your answer & thought you'd written "a mate of mine 'died' recently" which made me do a double take! It's reassuring to know that others have experienced the same symptoms. I've been in agony all day, so hopefully it is due to the jab & not another dose of being confined to the settee again! Cheers.
yep Smudge - you can be guaranteed effects 7-10 days after the jab. I work in a care home and we need to stagger the resident's jabs because of it, so that not everyone is suffering at same time!!

Thanks brawburd, if I'd have known, I think I would rather have had a dose of flu - only joking! The poor old folk must really suffer then, so it's a good thing they have you to look after them. I bet you do a brilliant job - well done!
thanks Smudge, that's kind of you! x
hi smudge, the flu jab has a tiny amount of the virus in it so u always get some sort of reaction from it its your body fighting the virus off. dont worry so much

Thanx rich., that's also put my mind at rest, as I've felt so unwell the last few days. My body felt as tho' it had been used as the England v Aussie rugby ball, but now that we've won, it's made me feel a bit better! (I'm female & don't usually follow rugby, but it's great for something positive to happen to our Country!) Cheers!
I have a flu jab (because of Asthma) and yes I always feel a bit iffy for a few days.

Thanx gilf, I'm feeling a bit better today thank you, but I think I'll give it a miss next year tho'! I do feel for you having to have the jab each year, 'specially if your symptoms were anything like the ones I had! Cheers.
Had my flu jab about 10 days ago. Now I've got a little mustache just like Hitler only red.
If you colour the rest of your nose to match Lindylou, maybe you could pretend you're still raising money for Red Nose Day??? Seriously tho Smudge, both my friend & I who had jabs have been snuffling for a while...we thought it was just us...apparently not.
Smudge the flu jab takes 21 days to take effect also it is not effective against ALL strains of flu - I think they can only choose the three most prevalent strains and as the vaccine is made a year in advance, it's the most prevelant last year. I had the jab and then two weeks later caught what I think must be the strain Bobbobley was referring to!
