Two of our friends had their gall bladder removed by keyhole surgery. They both experienced some initial swelling & soreness after their op's.

They were soon back to normal after spending 1 to 2 days in hospital, but were advised not to lift anything too heavy for at least six to eight weeks.

Hope that helps.
My 24 yr. old daughter had 2 Gall stones ,the size of olives, and her Gall bladder out last year by Keyhole surgery, she had one day in Hospital and two weeks off work and she was fine. I've just discovered i have the same problem!
I had a similar operation and was swollen for a couple of days. They pump air into you to make the operation easier. I could hardly get my clothes back on when I left the hospital!

Thanks for all of your responses!

I didnt know they pumped air in to make it easier,

Thanks again!
abdominal distention was a least of my problems, the common bile duct was damaged during keyhole surgery resulting in 3 further operations twice contracting M R S A in two different hospitals, resulting in ongoing problems and further surgery possible ?
Oh dear crete - I'm so sorry to hear about the problems arising from your surgery!

I must admit, I've been on tenterhooks myself today, as I'm going into hospital tomorrow at 07:00am, for surgery on a torn cartilage & large Meniscal cyst on my right knee - also a non-malignant tumour on the nerve of my right foot!

I'm not too worried about the op' on my foot, but the one on my knee concerns me a little. But as the song goes: "Always look on the bright side of life....!"

I do hope you recover soon. -x-

P.S. cocopos - If you are about to have Gall Bladder surgery - I hope crete's post won't worry you too much, as my friends were absolutely fine after theirs - I promise you. -x-
*Whoops - I meant my left foot & right knee!!!!

I'll be hobbling about on crutches for a while, as I'm having op's done on both sides! What fun!!
