Hormone Estrogen ...Should I be taking???

Ive not used contraceptives since I was 18 and Im now 32 and have never been pregnant. Me and hubby decided to try for a baby so I went the Docs to get checked out. After a couple of months and tests the doctor told me my Estrogen was low and to take Estrogen pills see how I go. By this time me and hubby where not getting along so I put them on hold. This was 3 years ago and me and hubby seperated 2 years ago. Should I be taking these supliments anyway? Are hormones in our body suposed to be balanced? I dont know if this is why I feel down alot and always have.
