..Hi all....does anyone have experience with the type of hearing aids that don't need hearing tests, such as the Babble or Magic Ear device. These can be bought online but I wondered if they can be bought over the counter anywhere in the uk.........the Babble one in particular looks good but it would be nice to actually see the thing before parting with a hundred pounds.....thanks...commoner.

..My main use would be for TV watching as my wife hates the sound to be at a level whhich I can hear and also dislikes subtitles, which I must admit do spoil the picture.

...Thanks GL for what is obviously the best and soundest advice.....I am aware of these things as I have been partially deaf through working in a "bad" environment for many years and have had my hearing assessed "umpteen" times as a result. The problem is that to start now and go through the whole rigmarole is likely to take, at a conservative estimate, two to three years to get a "free" digital aid and I thought this would help meanwhile.

What I really wanted was to hear from someone who actually posessed one of these gadgets and their personal experience of it...

Thanks again for your caring reply........commoner :-)
