I use a pair of those magnifying glasses, low strength, for reading, although I have a pair of prescription glasses - again low strength - but I have heard that the magnifiers are not good for your eyes. Does anyone know? Also, has anyone ever done eye execises to improve their sight? (the mag glasses are easier to carry around, so I keep them in my bag for reading on the train etc)

An optician told my husband that the magnifying specs are fine but if you have some presription reading glasses-however low strength they may be- that are orescribed for you alone,it is probably better to use them even if they are more cumbersome to carry around!
I have two pairs of magnifying glasses for upstairs and downstairs which I use for roung the home and prescription for work. I go four times a year to the optician and am assured that chemist glasses are fine. Prescription better for work as stuck in front of the computer all day and from time to time meet clients - just vain as they are rimless!! Dont do exercises - have to take eye drops - agree with you that mags are easier to drop in the bag - and they dont seem to break! Ony tip would be to go for regular tests as I understand eye tests tell a lot about health in general - but could be wrong. Probably not much help - but hope so

I have used the magnifying specs for a long time. But now I need them for driving, I have had to get a pair of bifocals. It has taken me about 6 months to get used to them.
