Do they work?

Is anybody currently in one? I'm talking about Manchester to London here by the way.

Depends on both people involved I suppose, but people managed it during times of conflict when soldiers went off to the front and elft fiancees/new wives at home. The wives were still there when they came back.

In an age of communication: mail/msn/txt/phone/snailmail/fax/mobile I don't see why it couldn't happen. It's nice to see people who still have that level of self control...

Good Luck Crgb14.

i have a perfect long distance relationship with my ex-wife ,
i live in sunderland , she lives in nottingham , PERFECT !!!

sorry , i could not resist .
I live in Birmingham, my boyfriend lives in Runcorn, Cheshire and we have been together for nearly 6 months. We did meet online though and see each other every few weeks. It works but it would be better if we lived locally to each other.

I have two friends, one from Norwich and one from Staffordshire, a distance of about 200 miles. They had a long distance relationship for 3 years before he moved to Norwich 2 years ago where they are happily settled and have had their first child born today!

So yes, they do work, go for it!

I am married to a Rwandian lady. If 4000 miles in the north of Africa worked i am sure yours will.
My husband works in Eire and it is hard work at times especially if their is something you HAVE to discuss at 1 a minute.Love prevails - it can be trying but he is only doing it for our future - just bought a fantastic house in Spain.8 yrs is about as much as I can suffer tho.He does get home obviously!!
I met a wonderful girl three years ago whilst I was studying in Seville, Spain. We dated for about 5-6 weeks whilst I was there, but we had to separate when I left to return to the UK. I never stopped thinking about her and we kept in occassional contact. A month ago I took a short break to Seville and we met up again. I think that we both realsied that we had something very unique and we are now together again!

I am a little apprehensive about the future, but I think that if something is meant to be, it will be. All one can do enjoy all those moments with the one you love.

So in answer to your question... Go for it! And make the most of every opportunity that you can get together.

If you both want it to work it sure will!

My bloke is currently living in London for work reasons and I'm in Northamtpton..its been difficult and we were both dubious about it but it's working (huge phone bills though!!) and I can't wait to see him this weekend, roll on Friday!

I've been in a relationship for 2 1/2 years, 2 years of which have been long-distance (London - Cornwall). It can work if you both want it to, and you're committed that one day you'll be able to close that physical gap. Phones and email are wonderful things. Two friends of mine were in a long-distance relationship for 3 or 4 years (Ireland - Denmark) and they're now living together and getting married next summer.

Also, relationships between people in the same county/town/village/street don't always work out. Being close geographically to someone doesn't guarentee success, just as distance does not guarantee failure.

Good luck. Long distnace relationships require more trust, more self control and more discipline. The relationship can only be stronger for those things....
