Does all this prove that Islam can be a bad influence on our young, and what can be done to prevent this kind of thing from spreading?

Does islam attract psychopaths or does it create them?
Many young people aren't remotely interested in religion of any sort, so I wouldn't be overly concerned - but she obviously was, and lit on Islam as bringing her what she was looking for. Not all Muslims go to these sort of meetings, I've said before that my many Muslim friends wouldn't dream of it - it's if you fall in with the wrong crowd - and many converts, IMO, are very fervent about their faith, often more so than born Muslims.
"Does all this prove that Islam can be a bad influence on our young"

It certainly can be a bad influence! and it can also prove to be a good influence. It depends on the individual.

"and what can be done to prevent this kind of thing from spreading?"

Prevent what kind of thing from spreading? Terrorism?

No the indoctrination of our young.
Oh, well if that's what you're talking about...nothing.

Nothing at all.
Your ancestors must have been Leading Lights in the Crusades.

That is rather a defeatist attitude to take, should the same be said for racism?
One way of preventing the indoctrination of young people into a religion based on ignorance, violence and bigotry is to educate them and not shy away from those social questions that are non PC.
AOG, you ought to include other things in which the young can be indoctrinated - teenage sex, alcohol, drugs, Christian sect Churches, Greenpeace, getting into the gang scene, thieving for fun - there are loads of bad influences on youngsters. Thankfully the ones I'm involved with are in organised youth groups etc - but they still come under these potentially destructive influences in their daily lives.

Yes all bad influences I admit, but none of those are a risk to innocent people going about their daily lives.

Except for alcohol, getting into the gang scene and drugs, but there are plenty of organisations that take care of these problems, but I know of none that address the problems caused by being indoctrinated into radical Islam.

Instead of glamourising her with titles like white widow , they should call it like it is...shes nothing but white trash

Now then Baz, what has her skin colour to do with it?

Let's just call her 'Trash'. :0)
AOG

Not defeatist, just realistic. Some people will always be racist. Some will be rapists, some will be murderers, and some will use religion as an excuse to blow people up.

There are no practical strategies to prevent religious fundamentalism.

I along with many others could come up with a few strategies, but we would not be allowed to state them, unless someone would be brave enough to enter a thread on the subject.

Any suggestions?
AOG

You said that you didn't know of any schemes to prevent youngsters becoming radicalised.

There's this one:

I know many muslim people who were indoctrinated when young, just as I know christians who were.

We could stop funding religious schools by the taxpayer. But you cannot stop people converting to any religion whether it is christian, muslim or Jedi. Once they are adults, it is their choice what they follow.

If you want to live in a country without religious freedom AOG, I suggest you move to Russia.
I can't think of anything that could be put into practice that would guarantee the prevention of radicalism.

Why don't you furnish us with your ideas.
I lived in a house literally around the corner from her when she was married (not that I ever saw her or knew who she was). Yet I somehow managed not to become a radicalised Muslim. I'm fairly sure I wasn't just the one that got away. Considered that this young lady might just be not quite right in the head?
there are organisations, people out there trying to reach young people to turn them away from radicalisation, Muslim leaders, those in youth centres and those who once belonged to Islamic fundamentalist groups and decided for what's it worth that it was not for them, that what they were being indoctrinated into was violence and possible death... so they have been trying to pass that message along to other young people, Muslims, who may feel disenfranchised from society,
perhaps it was the fact she was married to one of July 7th bombers, who knows
