Honestly, what a load of drivel. Fancy spending good research money on rubbish like this.

Do you know anyone who's married to someone whose name sounds like theirs? I don't - it's bad enough when children have similar names to the parent, causes huge confusion. What a load of old rope.
aog

You never liked being referred to as Old Git

Perhaps you should reconsider
I see that the research was undertaken by Jagermeister - by inference, we can therefore assume that it was put to people in bars and clubs, not representative of the large part of the population who never go to those places (or drink Jagermeister products).
.

Der' for Derek - you can only do it really in a west county accent.

and any man called Rose ( that would be his er surname)
I feel for, when he is addressed Rosey.

/The study was conducted by online dating site Badoo/

methinks it was money budgeted under 'PR and getting us some publicity in newspapers that don't care what they stick in'

('boxy' - you see that's sexy...)

LOL.....tell it how it is boxy......

\\\\\The study was conducted by online dating site Badoo, which studied the approaches made by its 190 million users\\\\

That to me is the most amazing fact of the story......a dating site with 190 million users.

AOG, do you like the shortened version of Richard?

Whilst the article is quite clearly spurious nonsense (but handy for those of us with shortended names), it seems that people tend to shorten their names the older they get, with a 'only my mum calls me that, and thats when I'm in trouble'. But I don't see the point of christening a child with a name like say 'Rebecca' and then from day 2 calling her Becsy. Whats that all about??
what do you mean, AOG - which versions do you prefer? what are the options? what about those people who like to use their full names, perhaps they don't prefer any shortened versions at all?

Personally, I hate it when blokes abbreviate their names to a z - Dez, Taz, Baz, etc. It's just lazy.
Boxtops are you talking about unfortunates who have names
like Doris Morris ? According to radio 3 a few years ago
there are no less than 6 in the UK.

OH's never liked being called Baz,hence he gets called' it 'instead
Well spotted sqad - I read further down

The research, which was conducted by Jagermeister

The dating site stuff speaks volumes then, about the people who use it - I've never heard of Badoo!
How sad, peter - Doz Moz.
Occy - or should that be Octy ?

SOme grenz named their children Guy and Hugh on the grounds they would not be shortened. We used to get under the Mother's skin by pronoucning Hugh in the Fransh fashion - Oog. - He didnt like it either
what's a grenz?
children can be so cruel PP
boxy....I am being continually hauled over the coals by the "AB blue rinse brigade" on my ideas of the frequency of infidelity, telling me that i live in an alien world BUT, don't tell me that 190 million single eligible folks comprise all that number and how many are married and are just looking for a "bit on the side?"..........50 million?....;-)
pos not all British
^
Quite a few sign ups from Menorca apparently
Petal....LOL....I gathered that.........;-)
Zeuhl....LOl...I am told it is the same bloke who signs up with different names..
