Any advice about traveling with diverticulitis? Diagnosed with diverticulitis two days ago, and we are scheduled to go to China and Thailand for 3 weeks in two days. Doctor has prescribed antibiotics for 20 days and strongly advises on traveling to these countries because of possible complications. Hate to cancel our trip for a second time having spent a great deal of time and resources in preparing for the trip.

Ed the only advice I can give you is keep within a toilet and if you are really bad you can buy loperamides over the counter buy a couple of boxes - if it is bad take 2 or 3 at the one time they are mild mind you once a day - it will get tide you over until you come back home. antibiotics don't do it as it is not an infection. I have been diagnosed - I mean did you get the camera up your bum. That is how it is diagnosed.
Ed...do you mean diverticulitis OR diverticulosis?

Diverticulitis is lower abdominal pain, bloating and intermittent bouts of diarrhea and high fever....you feel bloody awful.

Diverticulosis is the above, less severe and without the temperature.

Which is it?
