How is one supposed to submitt the crossword if no postal entries are now accepted. Surely they are not going to base the winner on the number of 'A's submitted by text !?!?

Yes they are.
Many of us who are used to posting hard copy entries off may not like it, nor the Royal Mail, and I think they'll lose a lot of followers, but I can see that texting or online entries is much more efficient - after all what do they do with tens of thousands of envelopes they must receive each week
And won't they also pocket a pound per entry from the charge for texting?
Yes they'll get some of the money. And I can see from their point of view they'd rather get some money themselves rather than see Royal mail getting several million pounds a year from postal entries
Having done the You crossword for years, I havent bothered to do it since they started counting A's. Saves me 60p anyway!

Sorry to say I will no longer be taking part in this crossword. I appreciate the financial implications and the need to move forward technologically, but I do not go along with the idea of having to submitt a crossword over the telephone.
Good luck with you guys for the future, I will just have to concentrate along with another tens of thousands of people to do the MOS Prize Crossword.
Did win it 3 years ago so know it is genuine. Cheers and beers
