My dear friend has had ovarian cancer for about 18 months and has undergone several courses of chemo. She was initially treated for reflux and digestive problems before they diagnosed the cancer.

Devastatingly she was told last week that there was nothing else that they could do and they have given her about 6 months. She has been given the option to be treated with the above drug which may extend that time but there may also be side effects to a greater or lesser degree.

I wondered if there would be any one on here who has been treated with this chemo drug or knows someone who has and tell me of your experiences. My friend has to back to the hospital next week to give them a decision.

Thank you in advance

I'm sorry that I can't help much, GG, but it might be worth noting that most of the side effects can be overcome (or, at least, alleviated) if they are referred to a GOP. See here:

Sorry to hear about your dear friend, a hard decision for her. As the above is a form of Chem, she needs to balance whatever time she may gain against the side effects which of course vary from individual to individual.

Could her remaining time be spent doing things she wants to do rather than laid low by yet more drugs - in the end she can only make an informed choice based on what the doctors tell her.

Very sad indeed .
^^^GOP??? GP, of course!

Thank you for you thoughts - she has been given all the details and pros and cons and only she can make the decision. She has to weigh the extra time she may get against the quality of that time.

She has a lovely family and friends and will be helped to do what ever she wants to do - we are going down again at Easter as we want to spend as much time with her as we can

Thank you again
