You'll only put on weight if, one way or another, if your net calorie trade, one way or another, is negative.
It;s a bit hard to generalise without knowing what sort of "workout" it is. It is possible to fret too much about these things. Do what is comfortable for you.

well lately we have been going through a stir fry fad with lots of rice or bread. I think the rice is what is making me fat? My wife is getting fatter too but she has a reason she is pregnant. I dont have one.
You'd do we'll to familiarise yourself with basic nutrition, your knowledge is woefully lacking and built upon some very strange assumptions.

Sugar is bad full stop-it really doesn't matter what the source is-but studies have shown that the sugar in fruit-fructose-can actually be worse for you.

Berries tend to be the lowest sugar fruits.
