Charge to GP

I have recently accidentally damaged my hand, I have visited my local minor injuries unit to have the dressing changed and the stitches out, in all I have been there six times.
A friend tells me that each time I go to the minor injuries unit, my GP is charged £80.
This seems a lot, so I wonder if any ABer who is a GP could confirm this?

No, I can't, I have never heard of this, but it's not impossible. Someone has to pay for hospital services and although real money doesn't change hands, the cost of every hospital appointment has to be paid for by somebody. This will be become more evident in the new world after April, where the GPs will be commissioning services direct from the Trusts. It's possible that every time you go to the MIU, it costs the NHS £80 (staff time, dressings etc).
