Just to reiterate, DaisyNonna, that I seriously meant no offence to you last night. Please accept my apologies if any wording construed that to you, it really wasn't intentional.

I don't think she is around just now DT.
I wouldn't worry about it DT.
Wot have you said or done DT, have you been a naughty boy ?
DT. To be really sure I read and re-read last night and found absolutely nothing that could be taken the wrong way. It was a reference to another thread that Daisy seemed unaware of and you gave a little bit of information.
If you were as puzzled as I was when things went awry then you behaved very well for the remainder of the thread.
I think something a little similar happened once before but can`t for the life of me think who was involved.
If you were in any way out of order last night you wouldn`t be so concerned still, but there were others reading remember.
Morning gness, thought you were away on holls today ?
Hi Tony. Tomorrow morning. Changed ticket so I could keep up with SD`s thread but think it will still be going when I get home. :-)
Where you off to gness ?, and Yep we will keep SD's thread going just for you :-)
Honiton, via London, tomorrow of all days! Teach me to book train tickets early.
Then Scilly Isles.
Scilly Isles, sounds good, hope the weather is kind to you. Some people say that I ought to live in the Silly Isles ?
Should have added DT that your apology, in the circumstances,is more than gracious.

thanks, gness, when are you off to Exeter and then the Isles of Scilly (old Viking word was Syllorgar and then there is a possible Roman explanation with Sulis (Roman Sun God) and also "sillina" a Roman word meaning 'place-of' or 'island-of'.

On old maps the islands were called Sorlingus, this could be a corruption of salt ling (fish). The islands are Les Sorlingues in French, Las Sorlingas in Spanish - so who knows!

As to DN, what upset me was that she said that she was in tears and that I do not wish on anybody here either intentionally or not. Tears of laughter perhaps excepted......
Which thread DT, I will have a look.
I've just read the thread, and then read it again and it appears that Daisy thought you were implying that she had been reading 50 shades of Grey and got upset about that, not sure why to be honest, it's not a god book but nothing to be ashamed of having a look at ( I think). It was all a bit garbled to be honest, but I'm sure it was more a genuine misunderstanding than anyone trying to be nasty, so I wouldn't give it any more thought, and this thread is a nice gesture.
What thread?
Thanks NOX...that's just daisy being her normal self, sadly.
DT. Thank you for that information. The sort of thing D and I love finding out. We carry Brewer`s Britain and Ireland in the car for that reason and often head off course to find a town or village with an interesting name.
If I get through London tomorrow I shall be in Honiton by evening. Trips to see bats in Buckfast and a Golden Oriole hunt around the estuary. The Isles on Thursday. Puffin and seal trips booked and bicycles for getting around. Watch the News for cycling incidents.
I am wondering if Daisy was feeling a bit emotional about something else and you bore the brunt. Won`t say anymore until she replies except that I was so taken aback when it all appeared that I had to read it many times and am still of the opinion that the apology should have been the other way round and hope it ends soon and happily. x
Just read it, I saw nothing insulting or untoward. And believe me when I say I know an insult when I see one !

Not sure on the tide status, gness, but on a spring low tide you can walk from St Martins across to Tresco, though you can't afford to dally around. There's a nice hotel on St Martin.....all property of the Duck of Cornwall, as most of the islands' properties are. Tresco has beautiful gardens on the south end, a pub and a "luxury" hotel - and again with the tide (but more time) you can walk across to Bryher and, if I remember right, there is a pub there too.....
Thanks DT. Weather not looking great but hey, I`m Irish. Re-packing the case today though.
