What's happened to VICK(S)?

Remembering the old joke of "rubbing Vic on your chest!" ..........Its years since I bought Vick VabourRub or Vicks as it is now known as. As I have a blocked nose at the mo caused by either a cold or hayfever I decided to try some steam inhalation as it used to be very good years ago. I bought a jar of Vick from Boots at a staggering cost of £4.55 (yes really!) and thought "O well, if it works, money well spent!) I put some on a tissue and its such a weak smell now compared to years ago, I could hardly smell it at all (it wasn't my blocked nose, as my OH said he could hardly smell it either!) Have they watered it down - it used to blow your brains out! Seems pretty useless ....................

I ptefer olbas oil. That can blow your head off if you use too many drops!

I thought it would be a good idea to put some menthol crystals in the bath when I had a cold but I'd advise against it. I felt like I was freezing when I got out the bath....

Even though the VabourRub is weak, I do think the Vick sticks (one up each nostril - a jolly sight LOL :) are effective though.

There is a product on the market called Easy Breathers, it is a dry tissue with powerful penetrating vapours, there are 30 tissues in the pack, it says it is fast acting, non-staining, natural ingredients , made by Robinson Healthcare,priced up at £1.25 per box, available at Davidson Chemists. Probably Boots or any leading chemist can supply. I think Vicks original as been mucked about with as it is weaker than when we were kids, also some cough relief products are not as powerful as they were. A sign of the times !!

When my mum rubbed Vic on my chest, I used to laugh like hell because I was so ticklish!!

Someone told me recently if you rub Vick on the soles of your feet, it can stop you coughing - ugh how messy!

I sprayed some Deep Heat on after I had a bath, forgetting the spray would get to unwanted areas. There ws a delayed reaction but it was B A D.........
