After this question (http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul

I left it a while as it seemed to have gone away but after a "suspected" ulcer a month or so ago and a few more painful flare ups lately of whatever is causing the pain and evil pain round my shoulderblade I saw my GP yesterday and she thinks either it could an ulcer which keeps flaring up or gallstones.

So got a course of lanzoprazole and helicobacter pylori test in case an ulcer and she is sending me for an ultrasound scan in case it's gallstones and got a load of painkillers.

It's coming and going so really hoping it will go (and stay) away again soon.

poor you jenna, I had an ultrasound for gallstones, they told me I had 22 stones and these stones were normal and needed no treatment.

I hope they are more understanding to you xx
I suffered from excess stomach acid from the age of about 11 until I was well into my 40s. You have my sympathy and understanding. The Lanzoprozole (is that the right spelling?) is magic stuff!

Hope you get this sorted soon.

It's so bloody painful when it comes on, just hope it goes away again soon, just can't get comfortable.

22 ouch!!!! Do you still get problems with them then Cazz? Hoping the lanzoprazole kicks in soon. The last lot I had was omeprazole and the ulcer like symptoms settled down in a few days and pretty much went away in about a week, maybe a change will help.

It does seem different to my bad ulcer years ago when I was in constant pain and sickness for about 2 weeks before it shifted. This is more on and off and can't remember getting the pain in my back then, unless that's the arthritis...I'm just confused!?!?!

I'm due to go back on my arthritis meds soon and just hoping nothing interferes with that as I want to get the inflammation under control. Hopefully the end of this week as GP just checking my blood results and ongoing screening stuff with rhumatology.
I had two very bad gallstone attacks then nothing, however I have taken steps not to irritate my gall bladder by only eating small amounts and eating foods that wont upset my system. its working so far..

Thanks Cazz, sorry for the late response, hadn't spotted your last answer.

I definitely need to look at my diet generally. I like spicy food too much and, although I have a bit, need to cut down far more on coffee and stop smoking (hoping to try hynosis).

Hopefully I should get the helicobacter results back tomorrow. Asked this morning at a check up after coming down with a horrible bug after restarting on immunosuppressants and they apparantly came in this morning but need to go by a GP first so said to ring tomorrow.

Scan is on 8 Nov but if this is positive hopefully it's easier to treat (antibiotics I think she said) and I can get shot of it quicker and easier and for good than a general ulcer/gallstones.

Will have to ask her if it is some bacteria thing if that might have been causing the groin abscesses I keep getting as I've love to get rid of them too :)
ouch.....

I hate to be rude but gallstones are more prevalent in women, Jenna. The Fs, Fair, Freckled, Fat, over Fifty being very prone.

Best to get it tackled asap if the ultrascan picks up the basstards. Someone I know (because we both had them) had his sac erupt and i tok5hr operation with the large knife to get him cleaned up, delaying my sortie to the slab and meaning an overnight.

One small scar (5 stitches under the diaphragm), one two stitch on the right flank and two one suture punctures were the extent of the damage and one week off has you up and running, though a little care from over-exertion for a month.

Nooooo DT, I just want it to be something simple (preferably nothing) which will go away, having enough faff with my arthritis and drugs at the moment.

Female, fair, few freckles, cold definitely do with losing a bit of weight but definitely under 50 is me :)

I got the helicobacter pylori results back and they were negative.

On to the ultrasound scan in a couple of weeks.
