The knuckle that attaches my thumb to my hand has been hurting for a few months. When I bend it i get mild shooting pains; sometimes going up my arm, but it still has all its strength.

Anybody have any ideas what it could be? I'm working abroad at the moment, so "Go to the doctor' is not so simple.

I can still use it as normal, but have to deal with the pain, which is quite mild but annoying.

Thx.

What is your job?
Have you had a previous injury to the thumb?
How old are you?

Thanks.

I work in offices, so the only strain on the thumb would be pressing the space bar!

30 years old and I don't think I have ever injured it. The pain just started.

Hope this information is useful. thanks Sqad
It is indeed.....strange story.....but might i suggest a trip to your GP as an X-Ray will be required to rule out an arthritic condition.

I did think it could be arthritis as a possiblity. Next time i'm home I'll get an appointment. Can it just happen in one digit then?
Yes....it usually starts in just one joint.
