FAO Sqad

Sqad, something has been baffling me with regard to Sylvia's passing. When she was in hospital she was very yellow from the jaundice but when I saw her in the Chapel of Rest she had no yellowing at all. Would you be able to explain that, please?

WELSHY........I am not an expert in such matters and the only explanation that I can give is that if the body is frozen, then enzymes which breakdown the bilirubin (jaundice) are preserved and then during preparation for burial become active, breakdown the bilirubin with the disappearance of the jaundice.

Sorry mate......best I can do.

Sqad, Thanks for that - it is just something that made a few of us wonder
good morning yorkie..... sylvias body may have been embalmed, which may account for the natural colouring when you saw her .
Most undertakers these days will do their best to make a deceased person look as natural as possible, its usually a bit easier for the family to cope with.

Sometimes however they don't succeed.

Hi Anne, We asked the undertaker if it was that and he said that he wasn't aware of that being the case. He was as mystified as us. However, having said that, i was grateful she looked 'normal'
