bikini wax?

I am due a holiday in Spain soon, and expecting to go swimming everyday. Has anyone ever had a bikina wax and does it really really hurt? I can take some pain but I'm not a huge fan.
Also does anyone know any other way or products I can try?
Thanks

yeah, it hurts like hell but it's quick! don't have it done the day before you go as it may still be red, and wear loose clothing for the event as jeans will rub like hell!

I've got into epilating. okay, the first few times were a nightmare (esp underarms) but if you keep up with it, it's remarkably quick and easy. even my 14 year old daughter is doing it, and she's a right wuss :o)

sara3, glad you're here. I forgot yesterday, that Wills web site I gave you yesterday, if you use them, it asks how you heard abouth them. If you use them, put "JM1209" - if you make a Will with them, they send me ten pounds for referring you. Thanks hun.

Anyway, back to the thread. Kirsten, just grit your teeth and get it done. It feels fab, all (I mean afterwards, not having the wax). To be honest, if you're thinking of a bikini wax, just go the whole hog and have it all off. You'll feel so clean and smooth, it's lovely. And you don't have to worry about sticky outy fluffy bits. Once you've had a full wax, you'll never want to be furry again.

sticky outy fluffy bits?? how lovely! (I'll quote your code if I use that will site, thanks)

Kirsten, you can buy epilators from anywhere, Argos, Boots etc but don't try it just before you go away. it's more time consuming than waxing and you'll have red blotches for a few hours, but only the first couple of times.

Thanks how long does it last? I think I might give it a go sometime this week because I'm going on holiday in five weeks so want to find something as early as possable. How much did it cost you?
Thanks joggerjayne, keep thinking about just getting it all off just need to find some courage from somewere I'm a wuss hehe

Don't worry about the "brave" bit, Kirsten. Just go for it. Once you've seen how nice you look, you'll think that fluffy bits are a bit gross.

And ... you can wear light coloured swimwear, and get wet in the pool, without "showing through" (if you're a lower regions brunette).

waxing and epilating are both methods where the hair comes out from the root so it can take weeks before anything re-appears, and it won't be spiky when it arrives. I love my armpits now, they're always SO smooth! I think my epilator was about £50 but that was 2 years ago. you can pay less, or more and have a light attachment (how daft is that??), or a freezer pack to lessen the pain. not needed, just get it done!

it's liberating, do it :o)

Do you think it is better wax yourself at home or at a salon?

Salon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you imagine sitting there, with the wax strip stuck on your bits, thinking ... "I'm gonna do it any minute now".

To say nothing of ... well, look, if you pull at the wrong angle, of is the skin isn't held tight enough, you can pull away a lump of skin ... and THAT'S not gonna look good an holiday !!!

Take a couple of brufen or paracetamol half an hour before your appointment, it will kill the pain!

Kirsten, until March I was a wax virgin. I gritted my teeth and had one done and LOVED the results. I did NOT love the four weeks of regrowth before you can have another one done though. What's the point of sexy for two weeks, hairy for two weeks?! So my beautician recommended a home epilator and i am a convert! It takes a bit longer than shaving but really isn't too painful if you do it slowly. I only hav to use it once every two weeks and each time the hair grows back finer and lighter. Its amazing. And as for the light attachment, its s godsend in my gloomy flat - it picks up any bits you've missed! I got a Braun Silk Epil from Boots for about £60 with a bunch of attachments too. Its brilliant, you won't be disappointed! Kate x

forgive me if i sound immature but my question is a serious one. do you ladies mean you go and lie on a table, open legs and have someone put wax on the hairy part of your bits then yank the hairs off? is that what a bikini wax is? i always thought a bikini wax is removing the hairs from the top if the leg near your bits.

OUCH! OUCH! OUCH!
someone should invent a numbing gel or something of the sort to apply before the wax. omg that must hurt terribly !!!
i will not go through that for anyone, ever.

There is a numbing gel available, I saw it in a magazine, I can't remember the name of it though, if I remember I'll post it!
