This advert really winds me up. These women are absolutely skeletal! No curves, no chest etc. Most men I know don't find women like this attractive, most women I know would like to be a bit skinnier but wouldn't want to look like this - so why do designers use these massively underweight and malnourished models?

Im not sure which advert you mean but the one that annoys me is the new Gucci perfume one. Pretty girls but WAY to thin to be healthy. Im curvy but can run on a treadmill for ages, I bet they cant climb stairs without feeling dizzy!

I think promoting this look as "beauty" is disgusting.
It's just a matter of taste I suppose. I have a friend who is naturally very thin (she eats normally, healthily but does not diet) and I feel so sorry for her when people call thin people unattractive because of their body shape.

It must be very upsetting to hear your natural body shape being called unattractive and disgusting, yet it seems much more acceptable to say this now than to say the same kind of things about overweight people
Oh come off it there is no chance that is their natural body shape. The whole fashion industry is riddled with young women with severe eating disorders.
it is all a matter of what kind of girl u like
some men like thin girls, some like fatter girls
personally i like quite thing girls, but it's only a matter of opinion
if u don't like someone because of their body size, fine, but u don't need to say it to everyone, just keep it to urself
I dont dislike thin people! My issue is with the fashion industry making young girls believe they need to be a size 0. Absolutely fine if that is your natural shape, but so many young women are starving themselves and surviving on coffee and fags in order to be thin. I just wish they would use a broader range of models so it would be perceived that it is ok to have some curves.
Personally i'm quite thin myself (6 and a half stone at 5 ft 4in) and always have been and i eat healthily. However, that is obv not the natural shape of the women in that add.
I'm classed as slim at best, skinny at the worst, but it's a natural thing which runs in the family. I'm 5ft. 7ins and weigh about 8st. 5lbs. Usually a size 10.
By some peoples' standards, that's not very attractive, but I'm far from being straight up and down. If I was a UK size 4 or 6, then I'd say that was way too low, and a lot of fashion models fall into this category.
the adverts that really wind me up, are the "real women" ones. making out, that all us naturally slim women, are really not "real women" as we don't "have curves"

I really find them insulting
I am 5ft 6 and 6st 4 , called everything from skinny to anorexic , it upsets me to think someone would call me disgusting .
Yes, I agree with Petal & Bigmamma. To be compared to someone with anorexia isn't funny - merely because it's a very serious illness.
I'd also defy anyone to say I haven't got curves, slim as I am. I bet Petal could prove some as well. I'm certainly not knocking larger ladies, but it always seems to be those, who reckon us slimmer ones aren't "real women". I'm quite happy to be me, but think I'm maybe a bit top-heavy. Before having the children, I was a 34C, but've now gone up to a 36C. Is that thin then?!! I'd never get a job like those malnourished models which Meglet referred to, and wouldn't really want to.
I'm naturally thin, always have been, 5ft 7 at between 8 and 8.5 stone, I get fed up with people saying I'm too thin, I eat normally, healthily - when people say "ooh you're too thin" it bugs me as much as it would people saying I'm fat if i was overweight.

The fashion industry likes thin girls because the clothes hang better - they are easier to dress.

I don't know why they don't use gangly 13 year old boys.
Im the same as other posters, Im 5ft 10, and although I know weigh just below 9 stone, up until a year ago I was 7.5 stone, My sister is around the same weight as me, and she is 6ft 1!
It runs in our family, we get the tall bit from dad, the skinny bit from mum!
Ive had all types of comments about eating more, being too skinny, looking ill, yet if I was to turn to an overweight person and tell them to eat less, i'd be shot down so quickly!
I'm a big fan of programmes like Americas next top model, and I find watching them, the women who are classed as larger models on there are in my eyes, not large at all!

I dont think its fair to say all slim/skinny people are malnourished & disgusting, and it is very insulting!
And we dont all spend our time heaving over a toilet or refusing food!
I really like skinny girls, I think they're beautiful and fascinating. Whether they are naturally that way or not, that is what I think is nice.
I will never be that skinny because I eat like a horse, but I am very slim.
My exboyfriend LOVED super-skinny girls, he liked how petite and slight they were. Ain't nothing wrong with that.
