Hair dying problem

I have dyed my hair with a permanent deep reddish brown(Garnier 3.6) today, only it has come out a very red colour which i can't stand.Can I redye it a natural brown(Garnier 5) without creating further problems?

no fraid not u need to use a toner for the next 20 years and then see how it settles down
You can dye it darker brown, but lightening a red = orange.

And dot.hawkes is right, you'd need a toner ;�)

As I understand it, if you're going darker it's ok, it's only if there's peroxide, or going blonder that you're in trouble. But hell, what do I know!! If you can wait, go and see a hairdresser and get them to sort it out, or at least ring the professionals on Monday. good luck!
