A couple of items in a catalogue that came in the Radio Times are made of this. Are they trying to confuse potential customers with plastic with a fancy name?

If you watch the antique shows on TV you sometimes see 'cold painted bronzes'. These products in the catalogue which look to be made of plastic seem to be trying to sail under false colours.
the cold cast resin is basically ground up metal bound together with resin. Its call that, I think, to differ from things which are just resin moulded and painted metallic.
