I would simply google the book title with the word synopsis after it.

Spark Notes is sometimes good but is more for classics and education sylabus titles.
Depending on the book, you can sometimes find good synopses on Wikipedia. Also, if it's a well-known book or author, their own websites or fan sites sometimes have them.
