Art debate

So Ivan Massow, chairman of the ICA in London has gone. Was he wrong to say that the art establishment was in danger of 'disappearing up its own arse' if he 'merely wanted to start a debate'? They're very sensitive, after all, these arty types.

The board of the ICA obviously thought he was, if only because he didn't consult anyone before putting the article forward to the New Statesman. One board member described him as 'a bit of a pillock'. But the Guardian made the sensible point of asking what a 'fox-hunting tory' was doing in the job in the first place, so what did the board expect?
