Hi sft42. Just wanted to say that, based on an earlier thread where you mentioned the book 'Cocaine' by Dominic Streatfeild, I bought the book and am enthralled. Any other recommendations ?? On any topic ...
Thank you for the credit but I have to admit that this one wasn't me!......I can recommend authors like Ian Banks, Clive Barker, Irvine Welsh, Stephen King, Colin Bateman, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams and P.J. O' Rourke amongst many many others.
I don't know if it's me you're thinking of but I recommended 'Cocaine' in the Summer Reading List question a while ago - glad you liked it, I thought it was brilliant. As to other recommendations (if you're interested) I've just finished 'The Tao of Pooh and The Te of Piglet' by Benjamin Hoff and I found it seriously life changing - it has me (very irritatingly) saying things like "Now that I'm a Taoist..." four or five times a day. Other books I've recently enjoyed include "Sacred Rage" by Robin Wright (about Islamic Terrorism) "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime" by Mark Haddon & "Chocolat" by Joanne Harris.
sft42 - sorry about that, dunno why I thought it was you ... but thanks for the rest of the recommendations!
saffstar - yeah, it was you - I went back and had a look ... what a brilliant book, I'm loving it! Thanks, I'll check your other recommendations out
johntheplamf - yeah, any topic (don't want to limit myself to reading about drugs! ;-)
Good for you psyphi! "Cocaine" is the only drug book I've read so far (unless you count "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas"), I like to cover a bit of everything too, I find it's the best policy bookwise - have fun!!
H-B P may be Hagrid, the reason I think this is that in the last book he was sent out to seek an alliance with the giants, for the war with voldemort and his mother had one other child so why cant she have hade married a King before her death.
