Does anybody know what was wrong with Miss Schofield in Wilde's 'A Woman of No Importance'? And can anybody provide a more detailed synopsis than 'Insecure, meticulous busy-body gets nose put out of joint, falls ill, dies in hospital'?

You could do with a little of Miss Schofield's meticulousness, since what you are referring to is not Oscar Wilde's, but Alan Bennet's 1982 TV play with Patricial Routledge giving a memorable performance. For a fuller, but perhaps less judgemental, synopsis than yours, see http://www.screenonline.org.uk/tv/id/505008/synops
