The "time periods" refer mostly to the ruling monarch of the country in question. Victorian, Georgian, Elizabethan, Bronze Age, Iron Age, Stone Age, Louis 14th/15/16th, Ming Dynasty. If the country didn't have a monarchy, dont' bother with those antiques.
But there are hundreds of periods which aren't about monarchy-art deco period, art nouveau period, different fine art periods, Renaissance, even Regency.

As football touched appon it can relate to the country of origin or the style and period. I don't think there would be a definative list but a number of concurrent lists.
