I am curious if anyone knows how many times Billy-boy uses the word blood (or its variants, e.g. bloody) in Macbeth.

thanx

10 times each I calculate, after a quick skim through a Shakespeare concordance.
I should have added above that I looked only for 'blood' and 'bloody'. There may well be other hyphenated words involving these.
The above figures didn't sound enough somehow, so I consulted another concordance. It came up with 23 for 'blood' and 15 for 'bloody'. That's more like it!
Do a Google search for 'Shakespeare concordance' and check it out yourself.

wonderful, thank you very much
I count about 41

Act I - 5
Act II - 12
Act III - 12
Act IV - 7
Act V - 5

Includes, blood, bloody, bloodier, blood-bolterd and bloody-scepter'd.
Thats a bloody lot!
My 23 + 15 = 38. Adding in your bloodier, blood-bolter'd and blood-scepter'd, O, gives us your 41, so we can probably asume that to be the definitive figure.
