Hi, I am in year 10 and have to perform a speech, trying to persuade the class about whatever I choose. I am stuck on what to do the speech on though. Could anone help? I am not too good at doing speeches so please suggest ideas that aren't too complex and that could be quite easy for me to persuade them.

Thanks very much.

Hi cheater123, are you trying to persuade them about a job choice? or that black is really white?

I recently did stuff like this as i'm in Year 11...I used to Persuade people to make their school Non-Uniform or Persuade people to recycle...Thats the easiest one as there are lots of recycling facts out there on the internet..I hope this helped

:Ace:

1. Choose something you know about and/or believe in.

2. Whatever you choose, practice on a group of people you trust beforehand as the first time is always worst. The next time is always 10 times better.

3. Prepare well and thoroughly. Remember the 5 "p"s. Perfect Prepearation Prevents Poor Performance.

Persuade 'em to stop smoking. Plenty of stuff around for that. And listen, nobody likes making speeches. So if you can grit your teeth and do a half dcent job your audience will be impressed. Don't rush; take your time. Don't hop from one foot to the other. Have a few postcards with memory-help lines. Speak up, sound confident, and knock 'em dead. Practice in front of the mirror. For hours.
All the suggestions are good - definately chose something you care about. Tips for a good performance would also be - try to use some humour (that will get them on your side), show a video clip if you can and use persuasive language. Go on the internet to look for examples of this - SAM learning might help. Above all - speak clearly and not too quickly. ~Good luck.

My niece is in Year 9 and her advice to you is don't let anyone intimidate you, they are all nervous when it comes to their turn. Try to stop yourself saying words such as like, um & and. Very best of luck.
