My copy says that it was "Found in old St. Paul's church, Baltimore dated 1692" but it doesn't say who wrote it.
Max Ehrmann, a lawyer from Terre Haute, Indiana. Details here

copippin .....Max Ehrmann is indeed the answer. However, more important is that in the search (Google we adore you lol) you actually get to read and digest these words.......Well worthwhile in today's world.

Love Moi xxx

Yep it is Max Ehrmann, and an interesting tidbit is that this has actually been included by a number of Wiccans/Witches/Pagans in their Books of Shadows, as well as the Wiccan Rede as a guide to be more patient, caring etc.

Pagans, Wiccans, or whatever are more than welcome in my book to include this in any of their works. I myself am a totally committed Christian, ( no particular leaning towards any particular denomination). However, I would like to think that reading this particular piece would at the very least make people "think" for a few minutes before rejoining the "rat race", or Schmokinweed :o))))))))) xx
