I must say I was surprised to see the Shadow Chancellor producing his, Mao's Little Red Book, in a debate.

I'm unsure what point was being made, but in political circles it must be fairly common to have all sorts of political literature.
Sandy....he made his point very clear on most TV news programs last night, and again on the Today Program this morning. He said that our Air Traffic Control was being considered for sale to the Chinese.

Why is this Government so keen to sell our our assets abroad, and especially to the Chinese ? As he pointed out this morning....all our family silver has already gone and now it looks like the furniture is being hocked as well.

Wasn't it Thatcher who started this? Gordon did little more than follow her bad example.
Yeah I do

it is a liddle book junior doctors used to carry
with all the usual prescriptions

which had now been replaced by the BNF ( Brit Nat Formulary )
Other budget supermarkets are available.
I've got a copy of 'Quotations from Chairman Mao'. (I even managed to work a few of them into my college essays. As I was awarded an 'A' grade on every occasion, I have to assume that my lecturers must have all been covert Maoists!).

However there's no book that I always carry with me for ready reference. Looking across my bookshelf though, perhaps my copy of '1001 Insults, Put-Downs and Comebacks' might come in handy from time to time ;-)
Chambers Dictionary is always next to the desk here, my other reference books are over there >>>
Haven't Vade Mecums been made obsolete by Internet searching mobile phones?
I knew a deaf vade mekon once....

LOL every time I saw this come up in latest posts I thought it was about vacuum cleaners for some reason. Now I've clicked on the thread I still don't know what it's about.
A little reference book, Prudie.
Yes thanks Tilly, I've googled now, that's my new bit of knowledge collected for today.
Didn't you look it up, then Prudie? In your Vade Mecum?
^ Sorry, aberrant comma there!
No but I could start my own vade mecum - things I've learnt as a direct result of coming on AB :-)
My vocabulary has been greatly improved by being on AB and I thought I knew it all. :-)
I prefer a Dyson to be honest..
