I read it many years ago ( its by Peter Tinniswood isn't it?). I remember it as a strange tale of urban miracles. I thought it was very good if a touch too sentimental in places. Tinniswood's writing often introduces the slightly surreal into the everyday, which I like very much.

I loved it - it's the first of the 'I didn't know you cared ' series which was turned into a TV show in the 70s. Peter Tinniswood's books are always very funny, but there's also a sort of poignancy about them which I find very lovable.
