to jake the peg and brinjal

Just wanted to thank you so much for recommending Samurai William (shogun) to me. It was a great read and I realise that little has changed in modern Japan except of course the fighting and death penalties. They have retained their politeness (sometimes a bot OTT), their being a proud nation and would rather commit suicide than to become poor. What is most noticeable is how clean everything is and how well dressed they are which is also noted in the book. Their perverse way of life is still there too.... Thank you.

Thoroughly recommend Shogun, written by James Clavell, (was a tv series with Richard Chamberlain).
Glad you liked it

Incredible story - must have been like another planet and yet he built a life for himself
