I am trying to publish a book in order to raise funds for RAFA & help 4Heroes

I am an ex serviceman with a disability I used to be a chef prior to choining the service and over the years have written down recipes which need to be published I was featured in our local paper as I only get a War pension, is there anyone willing to help me , the other thing is I have 1 book being typed up by my solicitors the other is in long hand as i can no longer type any more due to arthritis and other medical conditions which I will not bore you with.
I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

I know that there are sites on the internet where you can self publish.

I have also sent a link to your post to a friend who has published a few books to ask if he can recommend anyone. If he can, I'll post it here.

I am not sure exactly what sort of help you are wanting.
If you cannot type conventionally have you considered using the 'Dasher' software which does away with the need to type.

I work in conventional book publishing, and this new trend is getting us all slightly concerned. But if it works for you, then go for it.

My friend suggests "he would ideally need a group of people to work as a team around him, and in that way there could more enjoyment about it, with each person taking a part of the workload."

That got me thinking - if you're wanting to do this for the RAFA and Help the Heroes, why not contact them and see if they can help - worth a try.

I have spoken to the relevent people unfortunately they could not help they said I should contact the Author House ,I did that needless to say I am not impressed as all they want is money, all I get is a War pension and benefit which I hate.this means a lot to me as it will carry on the traditionsand not be forgotten, if you want to read the page it is in the Luton news October 2011. that is how long I have been trying I have tried to type but it is painful.
Thank you all for your help I am still hoping that there is some one out there who will be willing to publish this book , more so as it is the Aniversary of the Falklands War which I will not forget.I look forward to hearing from any publisher who would be willing to help me in both Typing and publishing.

Have you got a local college or university? Perhaps there would be a student there who would be willing to type it up for you. I know our college run a service (for a small fee) for real life stuff to be typed by the students as part of their practical study.

Also, do you want to produce it as a proper book or as a stapled booklet? How wide do you want to distribute it - locally or nationally?

If its just as a stapled booklet eg run off on a photocopier, again perhaps the local college/university may be able to do it for you - there's no harm in asking!
